When photographing children and families, making a connection and seeing the individual's personality through a glance or stance, or perhaps the group dynamics between siblings is what makes great photographs.  As a former play therapist, teacher, and parent, I’ve met and worked with loads of children. I’d like to think that I have the skills to help them relax and capture great images of them, being themselves.

My enhanced DBS check was updated in June 2019.

Clients hopefully enjoy the shoot as much as they enjoy hanging the resulting images on their walls, and sharing them on social media. I love being part of, and witness to, the stories within families.  My background and training in psychology and education has given me the opportunity to meet families at many times of their lives.  I've taught in a state primary in Bristol.  I've tutored individuals in millionaire's homes in Medellin and Taiwan.  I've been a play therapist to terminal children in London.

So what do they have in common? humanity.  I love the privileged place of being close to your family for just a moment in time, and have the skills to make everyone feel comfortable, have fun, and create great photos.  Your family dynamic and behaviour won't shock me, it will delight me.  I would love to help you tell your story with images to treasure now and for always.

I was born in the north of England, schooled in Lancashire, Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Surrey and Durham, then started to travel.  After a few years in London I spent the best part of ten years wandering, taking photographs and teaching.  I have lived in Medellin and Rishikesh, Ecuador and Taiwan. Now I call Keynsham, a market town between Bristol and Bath, full of ammonites and gorgeous scenery, home.  I travel to Scotland many times a year, and am more than more than more than happy to travel for work!

I’ve been taking photos since I was 10.  I shot on 110 film, Polaroid and and disk film (remember that?), before moving on to ‘real’ 35mm film, and then of course digital.

I'd love to meet you and tell your story.  Please contact me via the previous page
